I just got back from the Driven Music Conference in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Spent five days listening to music industry panels, networking with other musicians and industry pros, and promoting my songs. There was a full page ad with my picture and website/CD info in the conference guide, which gave me significant exposure! Also, in one of the sessions, my new website was used as an example in how to build a site on Bandzoogle, and my profile was also displayed at the AAMPP booth (one of the conference sponsors), giving me further exposure in both instances! In addition, I got to meet and play some of my songs for A & R reps from Universal/Republic Records and Warner Chappell Music, as well as for a grammy award-winning producer based in Miami. I received solid feedback about my music (with some possible interest-to be determined soon), and was encouraged to keep writing and getting my songs out there. I also met with a top music attorney with offices in Miami and New York City, receiving some sound business advice. Finally, I got the chance to visit with my mother and her significant other who live Florida, and even got to perform a few songs at show, which they attended (THANKS Mom and Dick). Had a great trip, but it's good to be home and to spend quality time with my wife!!
I will be putting in some more rehearsal time this week, as I have two shows next week, including my first time playing in Wilmington, Delaware, and a songwriters showcase in Frederick. More to come soon...stay tuned!
